About Me
Background & Qualifications
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Nelson Mandela University. I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (PS 0131261), as well as a registered member of the Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA) (PSY2197).
I completed my internship at the Elizabeth Donkin Psychiatric Hospital and Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth. Here, I mostly worked with individuals who needed hospitalisation for mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use and suicidal behaviour. I also completed a rotation at the Nelson Mandela University community psychology clinic, predominantly working with children and adolescents needing assessments and psychotherapy. Subsequently, I completed my community service at the Uitenhage Provincial Hospital, the Orsmond TB Hospital, and the Park Centre Clinic. I provided psychological services to the broader community, including the elderly and children.
Before starting my private practice, the Department of Health employed me as a clinical psychologist at the Uitenhage Provincial Hospital in the Eastern Cape. I delivered services to inpatients and outpatients and formed part of the district employee wellness team. I worked with children struggling with emotional and behavioural difficulties, adolescents and adults presenting with adjustment, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders, and assisted individuals and families to cope with newly diagnosed medical conditions.
I received training in and prefer to work from an integrative perspective. This approach draws from various schools of thought and models that allow for the flexible adjustment of therapy to suit the individual’s therapeutic needs.
